At present Gaelic football for boys at Naomh Éanna caters for all age grades from U-6 right up to senior level. We have an estimated 400 children/teenagers registered at juvenile level and have roughly 40 and 60 footballers registered at each age grade. We provide a fun based experience to all our young members with a proper progression pathway outlined for all boys from U-6 right up to Senior reserve and Senior level. Our younger members start off with fun based games where they learn to develop their skills, participation based training initiatives, and progression to the GAA’s non-competitive Go Games blitzes. From U-13 onwards our teams participate in the various divisional board and all county leagues and we are able to field at least 2 or 3 teams at all age grades due to our healthy numbers. All our coaches are Access NI vetted and have undertaken their safeguarding qualifications and have a minimum Foundation level coaching qualification. If your son is interested in Gaelic football and wants to start playing, please contact the lead coach of the each age grade for details.

Hurling has been a integral part of the Naomh Eanna club for many years, stretching back to the beginnings of the club in 1956 and the love of the game prevailed, despite a lack of success on the championships. The game was sustained through the efforts of a dedicated group of coaches who in many ways helped establish a foundation for the game that is played today.
In 1992 we won a JHC and it was 20 years later before we won it again in 2012, the core of the team having come through the juvenile setup. On this occasion we have been able to push on at Senior, with promotions from Div 4, 3 and 2 and now playing Division 1 hurling for the second season. We also won the 2019 Antrim IHC and, at our first attempt, won the 2019 Ulster IHC after a historic and dramatic penalty shootout.
In recent years, the work of the Hurling Development Committee has overseen the growth of the game in the club, further enabled by our affiliation to North Antrim GAA, the development of hurling in the local primary schools and a thriving juvenile and senior setup.
At Juvenile level we have teams at U5, U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U17. Within the Senior section we are fielding at U20, Senior Reserve and Senior level.

Our girls football teams play in a range of competitions within Antrim LGFA from u6 through to Senior level and we continue to grow. The focus in all training and games is for the girls to enjoy the game and develop their skills. As they progress through the age groups, they will participate in blitzes both within the county and further afield, leagues and championships. Many of our girls progress to county teams and have won Ulster championship medals at all ages.
Indeed our players were instrumental in Dominican College Fortwilliam winning their first ever Ulster LGFA title while others are key to successful teams from Colaiste Feirste, Aquinas, Edmund Rice, St Dominic’s, Blessed Trinity and Our Lady’s and St Patrick’s Knock. Our younger players play and represent many of the local primary schools.
We have a dedicated, highly experienced and qualified group of coaches who give their time freely to promote the development of each player and team. We are incredibly proud of how many of our players have progressed from U6 to Senior football together. Our Senior ladies team compete in Antrim division 1 with an average age of 18 so there is a youthful vibrancy around ladies football.
We also have a growing group of Gaelic for Mothers and Others so whether it’s for your daughter or yourself why not come along and experience and enjoy the game or maybe even develop your coaching skills.

Camogie at Naomh Éanna has really expanded over the past few years, with an ever growing membership. Our Juvenile members are currently estimated at 150 and we field teams in every age group, with some of our younger groups able to field 2 to 3 teams. From U6 our girls take part in Go Games, which are structured to develop the girls’ skills and confidence in the game. From U12 to Senior, our teams play in County leagues, where they compete brilliantly and build amazing bonds and friendships with team mates. At Senior level we have 42 eligible players on our panel, which is an amazing amount of players. Last year the Senior team made gains in their league placement and lost out in the final of the Junior Shield Championship, which was a thrilling game for everyone to watch.
All our coaches are fully trained to Foundation Level and in Safeguarding. They are also vetted by Access NI. Our current Senior team coaches are a mix of past and current players, including our Senior team captain Maeve Curran, who not only is coaching with us this year, but is also a part of the management team for Antrim Camogie junior team.
If your daughter wants to start playing, please contact Nicola McDonnell to find out training times and any further information.

GAA Handball has witnessed a significant resurgence in the club over the past year in particular with the introduction of the code to juveniles. Dan McVicker and Paul Graham from Antrim Handball Committee organised a GAA Handball Clinic in conjunction with Naomh Éanna and Edmund Rice College. 35 club juveniles were treated to a 4 day clinic with contribution from former Juvenile World Champion from South Armagh, Conall McCavitt and 6 time juvenile girls Antrim champion Deirbhile O’Neill.

Naomh Éanna feeder schools have benefitted hugely by refurbishment works carried out at Edmund Rice College and St. Malachy’s College courts alongside new courts in St. Bernards PS. This work was carried out by Antrim Handball Committee who have followed this up with dedicated coaching sessions in each of the schools including Gaelscoil Éanna. This has been further complimented by dedicated club training for juveniles led by Roisin McAllister & Colette Deery and supported by Dan McVicker.

With support from GAA Handball’s National Development Manager at Croke Park, the club played a significant role in the promotion of return to play following Covid restrictions and hosted several tournaments at the Halla and Edmund Rice College attracting many of Ireland’s top players.

In October 2021, we hosted the Autumn Wallball Slam, held in Edmund Rice College which streamed live on US handball social media channels! The tournament attracted several players travelling from London, including European Grand Slam Champion Luke Thomson and closer to home former US National Champion, Sean Kerr (Tyrone) and 2018 World U19 Champion, James Prentice (Tipperary).

2022 has been a successful year for both the juvenile and adult handballers. This year our handballers captured an Ulster title, Dutch Open Gold and Silver, 3 Gold’s at the prestigious Loughmacrory Open, Gold and Silver at the Clann Éireann Open, in the team of 4 event our U15s reached the Irish 15&under Feile final (3 of them still being 13), 3 of the 4 semi-finalists in this year’s U12 County Championships were Naomh Éanna players and one of our U11’s represented Antrim in handball at the Cumann na Bunscol against Dublin.

A successful year!
