U12 Hurling Match Report:
Naomh Éanna’s band of young warriors competed in an epic display of fine hurling against young Gaels from Hannastown, as they continued their preseason preparations.
Since the time of na Fianna, Ireland’s ancient sport of hurling was used to practice and refine the art of war; and although a friendly played in the best of spirits; both sets of players performed as if their lives depended on it.
A strong panel travelled to Lámh Dhearg with the intention of following on form where they left off the previous week following a magnificent performance against Naomh Eoin.
Lámh Dhearg came out winners in what was a very physical and hotly contested game. The final score was 5-4; 3-2 to the home side with Naomh Éanna’s Eoin McCann proving to be the main scoring threat with two goals.
Young Rónán Eager stood out in defence again as did captain for the day Declan Breen who shone in midfield. Oisín Quinn put in his usual determined performance showing great strength and desire in the middle of the park. In goal Patrick Gray pulled off a few unbelievable saves in the second half.
The boys will have learnt a great deal from the match and Naomh Éanna mentors would like to thank the Hannastown club and coaches for their hospitality.
Next match will be Davitts on Saturday 15th March at Dunville Park; 4pm.
Training is every Sunday at St Malachy’s College 10am – 11.30am & Tuesday evenings 6.15 – 7.15 @ the Dojo (http://www.b4mma.co.uk/contact/) for strength and conditioning training. New players welcome!
