Naomh Éanna CLG

A chairde,

As you know, Rule 4 of the GAA’s official guide states that the Association shall “actively support the Irish language, traditional dance, music and song and other aspects of Irish culture. It shall foster an awareness and love of the national ideals in the people of Ireland, and assist in promoting a community spirit through its clubs”

As part of this commitment, the GAA work with Glór na nGael to implement the Joe McDonagh Foundation. This programme supports & encourages clubs in promoting Irish.

Naomh Éanna have taken part in the programme for the past two years.

Part of the scheme is an awards accreditation - with bronze, silver and gold awards for the standard of Irish in and around the Club. It’s a difficult process with over 80 criteria.

I’m delighted to let you know that this year we have been awarded the Gold Award.

Last year, in 2019, only two clubs in the entire country received the Gold Award (out of the 135 clubs that took part).

A huge go raibh míle maith agaibh to you all for helping Naomh Éanna achieve such a high standard in promoting and nurturing Irish within our Pobal Éanna community.

Maith sibh! 💛🖤

Usually, the President of the GAA would be giving us our award in person at a glitzy award night, but in the current circumstances that won’t be happening. I’ll keep you updated on the alternative plans!

A huge go raibh míle maith agaibh to you all for helping Naomh Éanna achieve such a high standard in promoting and nurturing Irish within our Pobal Éanna community.
