C&F Scaffolding U16 Winter Camogie League  Naomh Eanna v Killeavy

C&F Scaffolding U16 Winter Camogie League
Naomh Eanna v Killeavy

In absolutely freezing conditions the two squads took to the pitch to contest a very tight physical game.

The Hightown girls struck first, with Tara Cullen finding the back of the south Armagh teams net. Endas continued to attack only for the physical brilliance of the Killeavy attack holding out until Tara struck again.

Clearly believing they were in cruise control Killeavy stepped up to the mark forcing brilliant defending from Lucia McKibbon, Amy McGoldrick and Aoife Roberts.

The Killeavy girls would eventually strike two quick fire goals, leaving the Hightown side is disarray and losing control of a game they seemed to be cruising in.

Step up Dearbhile McGivern who passed to Rebecca Stewart who released Tara to complete a first half hat trick. The half would end with Endas under pressure and only for the work rate and running of Ellie Murphy, Aoife Armstrong & Lucia McKibbon along with good keeping Zara McCann.

The second half started with Endas a score to the good, however the Killeavy Work rate and physicality going forward was unrepentant. Second half keeper Ciara McDonnell being kept busy throughout.

The south Armagh determination eventually paid off when they struck level with a long range effort. Leaving the Endas girls tired and stuck for ideas.

A player some times can change the flow of the game, when Naoise McQuillan caught a wonderful pass one too with the working hard Ellie Murphy, Ellie burried the ball into the net.

With ten mins to go the game was end to end but the brilliant Lucia and Naoise producing great work And skill in the middle they freed up Ellie to drop into forwards where she was ruthless with two attempts getting a hat trick of her own.

Leaving the finishing score 6-3 which was probably quite harsh on the travelling Killeavy side but it’s only February and a great work out for both sides.

From our own girls perspective it showed the step up in physicality for the bulk who have just moved up from u14. When the chips were down the Team dug deep and grinded out the result.
